Welcome to Brightstart Tutorial (“we,” “us,” or “our”). These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for the use of our tutoring services for 11+ Maths, GCSE, and KS3 Maths, including our website and other services provided by Brightstart Tutorial in Bexley.
By accessing our services or website, you agree to comply with these terms. Please read them carefully.
1. Services Provided
Brightstart Tutorial offers educational services including:
11+ Maths preparation for entrance exams
GCSE Online Maths tutoring
KS3 Online Maths tutoring
St. Olave’s Stage 2 Preparation
Mock Exams and Topic Tests
Holiday & Summer Revision Courses
Our sessions are provided through individual or group tutoring, conducted either in-person or online.
2. Booking and Payment
Session Bookings: All tutoring sessions must be booked in advance and confirmed by us.
Payment Terms:
Payment for sessions must be made at the beginning of each term.
There are 6 terms in an academic year.
Each term will include 6 or 7 lessons, with the exact number of lessons communicated to parents in advance.
Cancellation and Refunds:
No refund or replacement will be provided if your child misses a session.
A refund or replacement will be made if the tutor cancels a session.
Trial Lessons:
We offer two paid trial lessons.
If your child settles in well and you wish to continue with the lessons, you will need to pay the fees for the remaining sessions in that term.
3. Tutor Responsibilities
We strive to provide high-quality tutoring services and support for all students. However, we do not guarantee specific results or school placements.
Tutors will tailor each lesson to the needs of the student but are not responsible for completing school-assigned homework unless agreed otherwise.
We reserve the right to substitute tutors where necessary but will ensure all replacements are suitably qualified.
4. Student Responsibilities
Attendance: Students must attend all scheduled sessions on time. If a student is late, the session will still end at the scheduled time, and no extra time will be provided.
Preparation: Students are expected to come prepared with all necessary materials (books, notes, stationery, etc.). Consistent effort and practice are required to achieve progress.
Behavior: We expect students to behave respectfully towards tutors and other students in group sessions. Disruptive behavior may result in termination of the tutoring relationship without a refund.
5. Parental Responsibilities
Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring that:
The student attends all scheduled sessions.
All fees are paid in accordance with the payment terms.
The student has appropriate access to a learning environment, particularly for online lessons (reliable internet connection, quiet space, etc.).
6. Online Tutoring and Technology Use
For online tutoring sessions, Brightstart Tutorial uses third-party video conferencing platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
Technical Issues: We are not responsible for technical issues arising from the student’s end, such as poor internet connectivity or hardware failures. In such cases, the session may still be charged in full.
Privacy: Online sessions are recorded only with prior consent for the purpose of quality control or review. Personal data shared during online sessions is kept confidential in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
7. Limitation of Liability
Brightstart Tutorial is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage that may arise from the use of our services.
We do not guarantee specific academic outcomes or success in entrance exams. The student’s progress depends on individual effort and dedication.
8. Termination of Services
Either party (parent/student or Brightstart Tutorial) may terminate the tutoring agreement at any time, with one month notice. In the event of termination by us, we will refund any remaining balance for unused sessions.
9. Intellectual Property
All materials provided during tutoring sessions, including notes, worksheets, and resources, are the intellectual property of Brightstart Tutorial and are for the student’s personal use only. They may not be distributed, copied, or used for commercial purposes.
10. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify or update these terms at any time. Any changes will be communicated through our website and will apply to future sessions.
11. Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
